Cypress Hospital
Swift Current's new $33 million hospital required Stuart Olson Dominion's attention to detail to incorporate some unique features and designs. The full service hospital includes 89 beds, two operating rooms, maternity, diagnostic, imaging and ICU capabilities, along with a commissary to supply food to other area facilities. Service revisions were made to the administration building, including supplying mechanical, electrical and boiler services.
The project was one of the first in western Canada using continuous flight auger (CFA) piles, resulting in considerable cost savings. The facility was also built to Commercial Building Incentive Program energy-efficiency standards featuring operable windows, with awnings and a triple-paned, tinted glass curtain wall system in the atrium.
The building's exterior incorporates an External Insulation Finish System (EIFS). The exterior finish provides high insulation values and allowed for build outs and introduction of colours to the acrylic stucco finish.
