Fort St. John Hospital

Located on a 40-acre Greenfield site donated by the city of Fort St. John, this project will be the first hospital replacement of its size in Northern Canada. Upon completion in May 2012, the new 161,460 ft2 hospital and long term care facility will increase the number of acute care beds from 42 to 55, including the development of single-room maternity care. The new emergency room will be two-and-a-half times the size of the old one. Better yet, the facility will house an enhanced academic program, state-of-the-art operating rooms, and wireless access throughout.

But above all else, one aspect that stands out is that the project is designed to achieve LEED® Gold certification. At the end of the day, this project will be 25% more efficient than that called for by the Model National Energy Code for Buildings.

The project is being delivered through a Public-Private-Partnership (P3) model. Teamwork, open communication and collaboration among all clinical team members and project stakeholders are instrumental components to the success of this endeavor. Stuart Olson Dominion, in collaboration with our joint venture partners, Acciona, are very proud to be a part of such an exciting infrastructure project that will support the community - and the environment - of Fort St. John for generations to come.
