Archbishop Oscar Romero High School
Two stories in height with a total area of 78,900 ft2, this two storey high school is an excellent example of the use of innovation and the value of relationships.
Some of the initiatives undertaken were the review of the foundations systems due to the poorer than expected soils conditions, an examination of several different framing scenarios with respect to the radial design of the rotunda and classroom areas, and the floor finishes for the entire school. Each of these initiatives required the detail costing of the various alternates to determine the most cost-effective approach.
With an integrated team and a focus on Value Engineering, the Oscar Romero project came in under budget and was an outstanding success for all stakeholders, including the owner, architect, and consultants.
