Lawrence Grassi Middle School
This new school is approximately 50,000 ft2, on a site that will hold up to 8 portable classrooms for relocation. Every inch is jam-packed with sustainable and economical solutions, such as structural insulated panels for the roof structure. Inclined, architecturally exposed columns (supporting a vaulted ceiling over the library and student common area) make you feel like you are inside a cozy mountain cabin, rather than an educational institution. Key decisions like this aided the team in achieving LEED® Silver.
